Cromeans Foundation Generously Awards $15,000 to Coastal Alabama Allied Health Scholarships

14

Students enrolled in Coastal Alabama Community College’s Nursing and Allied Health programs will have new scholarship opportunities thanks to the Joe and Mary Ann Cromeans Charitable Foundation who generously awarded $15,000 to the college. The foundation was created to advance the field of medicine and broaden the arts by providing scholarships to qualifying juniors and seniors at southern universities.

“We’re honored and grateful to be chosen as a recipient of funds from the Cromeans Foundation,” said Jean Graham, Dean of Nursing and Allied Health. “These funds will assist students in the college’s allied health and nursing programs to pay for tuition, fees and books that would have otherwise been paid out of pocket.”

With the costs of living rising due to unprecedented inflation, it has never been more beneficial to the college’s students to be able to obtain financial assistance so that they may successfully complete their education, she said.

Coastal Alabama Community College’s students awarded the Cromeans Foundation Scholarship will receive financial support to complete healthcare degrees, which in turn will provide local communities and healthcare facilities the trained workers needed to fill current shortages, which are at record levels.

Founded by longtime Baldwin County resident, Gray Cromeans, who named the foundation after his parents, it honors and continues their legacy of generosity to future artists and medical professionals, and the communities they serve.

“The faculty and staff of the Nursing and Allied Health Department would like to express their appreciation of the Cromeans Foundation for selecting Coastal Alabama Community College as a recipient of these funds,” Graham said.
