Coastal Alabama to Host STEAM & Robotics Camps in Thomasville and Monroeville this Summer

15

Elementary and middle school students in Clarke and Monroe counties have the opportunity to learn and have fun this summer thanks to Coastal Alabama Community College’s STEAM Summer Camp schedule.

The Thomasville Campus will be the location of the summer’s Mad Scientist STEAM Camp, where students will be learning coding by using their very own Sphero Robot. Upcoming 4th and 5th graders in the Clarke County Public School System will attend the two-week camp for free, thanks to scholarships. It will be held June 13-27, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Hands-on robotics activities are available for students in Monroe County, as well. The Monroeville campus of Coastal Alabama Community College will hold two Summer Robotics Camps during the first two weeks of June. Students may be awarded scholarships from their schools to cover the $100 cost of the camp.

June 6-10, students age 7 to 9 will engage in hands-on, age-appropriate STEAM activities as they construct robots. Participants will showcase their robots for parents and community members on the last day of camp. On June 13-17, students age 10 and up will participate in a similar robotics camp, which will conclude with demonstrations of each student’s robot on the final day of camp.
