Dear Students and Parents,
Like most college preparatory schools, St. Michael asks its students to do summer work for two reasons: First, to diminish the effect of the summer months' "brain drain," in which the average student loses one month's worth of school year learning. Second, the school year itself is very taxing on students, especially for those enrolled in honors classes. By having students do some of that work over the summer, it lessens the amount of work due in the first couple of quarters, especially.
Teachers are expected to hold kids accountable for the assignments during the first two weeks of the school year, though individual teachers will each do that differently.
All versions of these books may be ordered through Amazon.com or through the "Page and Palette" in downtown Fairhope.
Don't wait to the last minute! Do a little bit at a time, and you'll find this far less stressful.

Collegiate Studies students read the first book only in their grade. Honors and AP students read both books in their grade. Students will complete assignments with the texts the first week we are back at school.
