Lugenia Hall passed away on June 10, 2022. In 1989, Ms. Hall was elected as the first Black city council member in Foley, Alabama. She was elected as councilwoman to Foley’s District 2. She was reelected in 1992. During her first term on the city council, she was appointed as Foley’s city treasurer.
During her tenure on the council, the Holk Post Office building located at 150 East Laurel Ave., was built and dedicated.
Hall was a hard worker throughout her entire life and often held multiple jobs to provide for her family. She will be remembered as a shining example of the city’s best. She was a pioneer, a selfless, hard worker, who was dedicated to her family and her community.
The city is grateful for Lugenia Hall’s contribution to the growth of this community. The mayor and council extend their sincere condolences to her family and friends.
