St. Michael is proud to announce it has hired Mr. Drew Williams to become a full time theology teacher for the 2022-23 school year. Mr. Williams will teach predominantly freshman theology, but will also teach Collegiate Studies American History to juniors.
Mr. Williams is native to the area, having attended Christ the King and McGill-Toolen Catholic High School. Upon graduation, he earned a B.A. in Psychology and Spanish from Auburn University. For the next four years, he attended St. Meinrad Seminary in Indiana, discerning for the priesthood, while earning a M.A. in Catholic Philosophy and Theology. After deciding on a different path, Williams returned to the area, working as an admission officer for Spring Hill College.
“ We’re very happy to have Mr. Williams with us next year, ” says principal Faustin Weber. He is well known and respected in this area, and I believe he’ll bring enthusiasm and passion to his teaching here. He’s not replacing anyone—Mr. Martin, Miss Smith and Mr. Schmidt are returning. We’re hiring an additional theology teacher to help balance the teaching and campus ministry responsibilities unique to this department. I anticipate Mr. Williams will be an excellent addition to both. ”
"I am a big believer in the importance of Catholic education,” says Williams. “From my first conversation with Mr. Weber, I knew that St. Michael was a place that I wanted to serve. I'm very excited to bring my formation and training in theology to bear on the teaching mission of the school. The subject of theology occupies a unique place in forming the hearts and minds of students, and it is an honor to contribute to the schools mission of helping students 'to become scholars, leaders, and disciples of Jesus Christ.' "
Mr. Williams is a member of Christ the King parish, and recently announced his engagement to Susan Roh, daughter of Joe and Shannon Roh.
