Cost of college went up for all students at Columbia Southern University

Tuition and fees rose 2.2 percent for 2018-19 at Columbia Southern University, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Alabama students paid $5,535 to attend the four-year private for-profit institution this year – $120 more than the $5,415 charged for 2017-18.

Data shows 95 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 203 students received grants or scholarships totaling $701,514 and 126 students took out student loans totaling more than $797,396.

Including all undergraduates (21,104), 12,759 students used grants or scholarships totaling $24.3 million, and 4,585 students took out $31.3 million in federal student loans.
